Our Challenge – Our Challenges Continue

Waipuna Hospice was established in 1990 which means this year we will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary.

In recognition, we are planning a Gala Dinner next year and you’re invited! We’ll let you know more details of this very special event closer to the time.

We are proud to be launching our 30 for 30 Campaign and we would love you to take part. Waipuna Hospice acknowledge the challenges ahead in continuing to provide our services at no cost to patients and their families.

Our need is significant – this year we need to raise an additional $4.25 million. Beyond 2020 and due to forecasted demand, our costs are expected to keep rising.

We are asking you to pledge $30 for the next 30 months so that we can continue providing support for Western Bay of Plenty’s growing population.

Please get in touch if you think you can help with just $1 a day. Can we count on you to be part of the ongoing support of Waipuna Hospice services so the vital services will be available for the next 30 months?

Select the easiest way for your to donate $30 for 30 months so we can continue providing support for Western Bay of Plenty’s growing population.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 30 for 30 campaign?

The 30 for 30 campaign has been formed so we can continue to provide the best possible specialist palliative care, at no cost to patients and families.

Those wanting to support us by joining the campaign will pledge to donate $1 a day or $30 each month for thirty months. By signing up as a regular ‘30 for 30 donor’, you can help ensure Waipuna Hospice has a steady source of income in order to provide services to people in our community facing a life limiting illness.

Why is the 30 for 30 campaign so important?

It’s simply because we really need your help. Beyond 2020 and due to forecasted demand, our costs are expected to keep rising given our community growth and needs of the population. To give context, this year alone we need to raise an additional $4.25 million. That’s just under $82,000 per week.

I thought Waipuna Hospice was funded by the government?

This is a common misconception. Waipuna Hospice is not funded by the government. In saying that, some of our services are contracted from the District Health Board, however they aren’t guaranteed.

Why do you expect your costs to keep rising?

We cover the Western Bay of Plenty which by 2050 will have increased its population by 50%. Due to this extreme population hike, the demand for services will only get higher and higher.

I already give to Waipuna Hospice in other ways. Why should I consider 30 for 30 as well?

We thank you for your support, from the bottom of our hearts. We are grateful for anything but 30 for 30 donations (like regular giving) will go that much further, given it will be a recurring payment. Knowing we can count on a constant, regular source of income helps us budget – and it also makes giving easier for you!

How do I set myself up?

There are a variety of payment methods available for you to donate easily. These include direct debit, credit card, or automatic payment. However, given the nature of the 30 for 30 campaign, we recommend you donate by direct debit.

You can set up regular direct debit to Waipuna Hospice by downloading our direct debit authorisation form. Simply complete and sign the form then send it back to us at:
Waipuna Hopsice, PO Box 16299, Bethlehem, Tauranga 3147 or email it to supporter@waipunahospsice.org.nz

Can I give anonymously?

You will by default be anonymous to anyone outside the immediate Marketing and Fundraising team when you join the campaign, apart from Richard our CEO. If you feel for whatever reason you might wish to make more of a public statement, like being profiled in our newsletter, please just let us know.

30 years is a long time, what if I can't commit for that long?

Whilst we would love everyone to fulfil their pledge to us, we understand that individual circumstances change and should you not be able to meet these payments you are free to cancel at any time.

Will my donation be eligible for a tax credit?

Donations are eligible for a tax credit only if they’ve been made to a verified payee with Donee Tax Status which we have. Once you’re set up, we’ll make sure you receive an annual receipt so that you can claim your tax rebate.

Can I support via a family or Charitable Trust?

Of course you can, the process for this is the same. If you are in any doubt, we recommend you check with your legal counsel.

How do I get a copy of the receipt for my donation?

When the donation is received, you’ll be emailed a receipt either by post or email, whichever you choose. You can also opt to receive these annually or monthly.

Can people living overseas join the 30 for 30 campaign?

Yes of course. However, as you can appreciate, we only accept Mastercards or Visas that are issued in certain countries. If an overseas person is having trouble donating, please ask them to contact us to let us know what card type they are using and from which country it has been issued.

Where can I find Waipuna Hospice financials?

These are found on our website and are also published by the Charities Commission.
