Waipuna Hospice, in partnership with Hospice New Zealand and Farmers, are giving you the chance to remember those held dear with their Remembrance Tree Appeal.
The Waipuna Hospice Remembrance Tree Appeal encourages you to leave a message on a Christmas tree in memory of your loved ones. In return, a donation is made which directly helps those in our community facing a life-limiting illness through the work of Waipuna Hospice.
The personal notes are a way for those grieving or missing someone abroad to gain a little comfort during what can often be a challenging festive season, while also helping Waipuna Hospice raise crucial funds.
Remembrance trees will be set up in Farmers stores from November 16th, and community-based remembrance tree sites will start from November 17th. Please donate generously, and leave a loving message for someone you can’t be with this Christmas. Christmas baubles are also available in all Farmers stores for $15.99. If you can’t visit, please donate here.
100% of donations made in Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty, including the sales of the Christmas Baubles at local Farmers stores, stay in this region and are given directly to Waipuna Hospice.
Honour your loved ones who have passed away this Christmas by hanging a ‘Pōhutukawa’ bauble on your tree. The iconic red flowers of the pōhutukawa bloom each year around Christmas time, earning it the name ‘New Zealand’s Christmas Tree’. Pōhutukawa is a special symbol of summer found only here in Aoteaora.
The Christmas season is a time family and friends can come together, celebrate and make life-long memories. When we lose a loved one, this can be dampened – a special touch in remembrance can not only make us feel closer but it brings a positive light to those memories.
Gifting a bauble is also the perfect way to show a loved one you will always be with them, even if you’re physically apart.
Get yours today by visiting any local Farmers store. All proceeds from the sales of the baubles in Tauranga Farmers Stores go directly back to Waipuna Hospice.
Spare a couple of hours and Volunteer at one of our Remembrance Tree Collections
Your act of kindness this Christmas. Feel warm knowing you are helping bring comfort to those requiring end-of-life care.
Waipuna Hospice’s Remembrance Tree Appeal is an excellent opportunity to get into the community, hear beautiful stories of those impacted by hospice, and help collect donations to support hospice work.
To be a volunteer, what is required of you is an easy short, two-hour shift collecting donations and helping people write a special message to someone they love, miss and can’t be with this Christmas.
We have collection sites across Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty from mid-November to mid-December.
