Inspire others with your story.

The strength and courage of our patients, their families, and whānau is an inspiration. Over the years, Waipuna Hospice has cared for thousands of patients across the Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga. In the last year alone we cared for over 800 patients, making over 6,000 nurse visits, 10,000 phone calls, and travelling over 236,000 km to visit our patients and their families.

Your experience can make a difference in the lives of others.

One of the most amazing ways you can help raise awareness and provide support to others in your community, is by sharing your story. This is a powerful way to remind others that they are not alone. Hearing someone else’s story can bring comfort to those who are facing a similar illness or dealing with the grief of losing a loved one.

Stories like yours can get people talking, change attitudes, challenge stigma, and help people in your community by inspiring future support.

If we’ve looked after someone close to you during their final days, or you have a unique story about what hospice care is and how it helps, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit your story by completing the below form. Personal stories may be shared on our website, social media, in our newsletter, or on our website. We would never consider using any part of your story without asking you first.

The courage it takes to share your story might be the very thing someone else needs to open their heart.” – Unknown

A Waipuna Hospice story in Tauranga

“Pete was able to continue to be himself, to finish his story with dignity, love and peace. When Pete’s illness worsened, the nurses started visiting every day and he would look forward to their visits. Straight away you could see the relief on his face, knowing he was in good hands.” – Jackie Graham, Pete’s loving wife.
